who has been selected from 11 688 nominations submitted from 22 countries across six continents and recognized as a positive leadership champion, helping people, teams and organizations thrive
Weekly, and most all, staff meetings start with a “Presence Check-In.” Team members share how present they are on a scale of 1 to 10. 1=tuned out, unmotivated and 10=engaged, excited. There is both no judgment and room to share more. This is followed by “Weekly Kudos;” team members take turns acknowledging each other’s contributions, especially ways they received support. This is always positive and often heartfelt. Following project updates, we end with a discussion of our company values (integrity, evidence-based, collaborative, creative, thoughtful, and responsive). Everyone selects a value they particularly resonate with that week and explains why.

Joel Bennett, PhD, CWP, is CEO of Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems (OWLS), whose mission is to catalyze healthy cultures and communities from the inside out with science. OWLS programs, many tested in clinical trials, have reached over 250,000 workers. These programs, shown to reduce behavioral health risks and improve the work climate, have been recognized as effective by the US Surgeon General. Dr. Bennett is author/co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and seven books, including “The Connoisseur of Time: An Invitation to Presence” (available for free at www.presencequest.life). He lives in Texas with his wife Jan and relishes mysticism.
